Day 1: Fez - Merzouga Dunes
Depart after breakfast for Merzouga, driving through the scenic Middle Atlas region. En route, explore Ifrane, known as the ‘Switzerland’ of Morocco, and encounter the cedar forests of Azrou where you can interact with wild monkeys. Enjoy lunch in Midelt before continuing along the Ziz River valley, passing the Ziz Gorges, and arriving in Merzouga by evening.
Day 2: Merzouga Desert Exploration
Embark on a full day exploring the Erg Chebbi desert dunes. Experience the nomadic way of life and witness the desert's shifting contrasts. Visit Khamlia, the 'black village', to enjoy Gnawa music. Indulge in a traditional Berber pizza lunch in Rissani. In the afternoon, ride camels into the desert to witness a mesmerizing sunset and spend the night at a desert camp. After breakfast, camel trek back to the hotel for a quick shower. Depart from Merzouga, crossing the black Desert (hamada) to Rissani. Visit the vibrant local market before continuing to Erfoud, renowned for its fossils. Explore the impressive Todra Gorges, ideal for rock climbing and hiking. Check into your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Todra Gorges - Ouarzazate
After breakfast, journey along the 'Road of 1000 Kasbahs', passing through the Dades Valley and encountering numerous kasbahs and Berber villages. Explore a local Berber family's lifestyle, witnessing goat herding and the colorful Rose Valley landscapes. Continue through Skoura palm grove before reaching Ouarzazate for dinner and overnight accommodation.
Day 5: Ouarzazate - Marrakech
Visit Taourirt Kasbah before departing for Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the traditional Berber village of Telouet and its historic Kasbah el Glaoui. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in Telouet before descending the Tizi-n-Tichka pass, arriving in Marrakech where the tour concludes.
